Risk Measures: Rationality and Diversification

چکیده
When there is uncertainty about interest rates (typically due to either illiquidity or defaultability of zero coupon bonds) the cash-additivity assumption on risk measures becomes problematic. When this assumption is weakened, to cash-subadditivity for example, the equivalence between convexity and the diversi cation principle no longer holds. In fact, this principle only implies (and it is implied by) quasiconvexity. For this reason, in this paper quasiconvex risk measures are studied. We provide a dual characterization of quasiconvex cash-subadditive risk measures and we establish necessary and su¢ cient conditions for their law invariance. As a byproduct, we obtain an alternative characterization of the actuarial mean value premium principle. متن کاملSpectral Risk Measures for Credit Portfolios
In this article, we experiment with several different risk measures such as standard deviation, value-at-risk, expected shortfall and power-law spectral measures. We consider several families of testportfolios, one with a typical market risk profit-and-loss profile, and the others containing defaultable bonds of various credit ratings and various degree of diversification. We find that the risk...
متن کاملRisk Perceptions and Rationality in Measures of Risk
Individuals may have biased perceptions of health and safety risks. We conjecture perceptions of mortality risk from various risk measures using parametric and non-parametric methods. We investigate how risk perceptions are measured and what rational explanations can be found for these measures.

Mutual funds are the best tool to mobilize savings and investments in an economy and Pakistan is the pioneer in South Asia, but this industry is not as much mature in comparison to its age in Pakistan. This paper examines the performance of closed ended mutual funds in Pakistan by using five different ranking measures during a period of January 2009 to December 2013 and the sample consists of o...
